A Day Trip To Albi And Cordes

Your day will start with a stunning drive through the medieval fortress bastide of Cordes and across the high plains of the Gaillac vineyards. About a forty minute drive from Saint Antonin Noble Val the ancient city of Albi appears below us in the valley of the Tarn.

On arrival take time for a coffee and croissant in the beautiful square in front of the Cathedral Saint Cecile. You will then have ample opportunity to enjoy this spectacular town.

The Toulouse Lautrec Museum is just across from the cathedral and the shops and boutiques meander along pedestrian cobbles.

This is a fascinating town with something for everyone to enjoy.

About midday your thoughts may turn to food, at this point you have the option of a snack or a five course meal in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants in the town or a short drive out into the Gaillac hills for a picnic overlooking the majestic scenery of the Tarn.

Lunch over you take a slow leisurely drive back into Cordes Sur Ciel when you can experience the grandeur and history of this true bastide town.

Here you can stroll to the top of this living fortress or take the navette...the minibus to the top to see the spectacular views. It is an incredible sight that has been the inspiration for numerous artists and, in this modern era, photographers
